HUNTSVILLE – It will become hot by mid-week and not nearly as wet as last week... as an upper-level area of high pressure centered over the Ohio Valley dominates the region. This will cause high temperatures to reach the mid-90s with afternoon heat index values around 100 degrees, and lows to reach the low 70s for much of the upcoming week. Persistent moisture flowing around the high will keep isolated showers and thunderstorms in the forecast, mainly each afternoon and early evening.

Scattered showers and thunderstorms will be possible on Monday. Gusty winds to 40 mph will possible with any heavier showers or storms. Otherwise, mainly isolated afternoon and evening thunderstorms will be possible from Tuesday through weekend. Locally heavy rainfall, cloud to ground lightning and gusty winds of 30 to 40 mph will be the primary threats.
